RIZAL :
The Province of Rizal is located in the Southern Tagalog region and is named after Philippine national
hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal. It boasts of strong artistic tradition, especially in the town of Angono, and is known to be the center of the arts in the Philippines and home to many of the country's national Artists, including Vicente Manansala, Botong Francisco and Jose Blanco. Another attraction of the province is its colorful ANNUAL FESTIVALS.

WHAT TO SEE:

Vicente Manasala Shine (Binangonan)
Declared by the National Historical Institute as a historical landmark on June 1978. It houses relics of national artist Vicente Manansala and features his well-preserved original paintings and paraphernalia.
Lake Island Resort (Binangonan)
A perfect place for vacationers, retreat-goers, and artists. It has peaceful natural sorroundings, well-manicured gardens, fishpens and houses on stilts lining its shores, with the waters of Laguna Lake stretching all around it. it is used as a venue for on-the-spot painting sessions for the village atrtists, business meetings and corporate functions.
Nemiranda Arthouse (Angono)
A house converted into an art gallery, studio, and a small school for aspiring painters. It has displays of various paintings, wood caricatures and sculptures. Our lady of Antipolo Shrine (Antipolo)
Its miraculous icon is said to have saved several Spanish galleon from British, Dutch and pirate attacks.
Rafael Pacheco Finger Painting Gallery (Morong)
Features outstanding pieces of art created by internationally known artist Rafael Pacheco.
Uugong Falls (Morong)
Gives views of Laguna Lake and the town of Morong. This is where finger painter artist Rafael Pacheco conducts his art workshops, demontrates and lectures.
Calinawan Cave (Tanay)
Served as a shelter from the Japanese during World War II. It is also the surrender site of the Japanese soldiers to the Liberation Forces.
Daranak Falls
A Fourteen-meter fall standing beneath a running stream.
Tanay Church
A 17th-century church built with a mixture Philippine Colonial design and barouque. It features beautiful wood relief sculptures of the Stations of the Cross, five altars rococo designs, and stained glass window above the choir loft.

MAJOR EVENTS:

Carabao Festival May 14
Higantes Festival/Feast of San Clemente (Angono)
November 22-23 Marked by a procession of the image of San Clemente,( patron saint of fisherman) borne by devotess dressed in colorful local costumes, wooden shoes, and carrying boat paddles and higantes(giant paper mache effigies). This street event culminates in a fluvial procession in Laguna de Bay.
